Messaging in Tracksales lets you send SMS and email campaigns to customers, employees, and other contacts. Use it for payment reminders, promotions, order updates, and any outreach that benefits from bulk or scheduled communication.

1. Opening Messaging

Open Messaging from the main sidebar. The module includes:

  • Dashboard — balance, send stats, recent campaigns, and quick actions
  • Outbox — compose, send, schedule, and review all campaigns
  • Templates — reusable SMS and email content with merge fields
  • Automation — flows that send messages when events occur
  • Billing — top up SMS credits and view purchase history
  • Settings — providers, quiet hours, defaults, and notifications

Your current SMS wallet balance appears at the top of the Messaging sidebar.

2. SMS vs email

Each campaign uses one channel:

  • SMS — sent to phone numbers; billed via your SMS wallet or a connected gateway
  • Email — sent using your organization email settings; subject and body are supported

Choose the default channel under Messaging → Settings → General.

3. How SMS billing works

When you use the Default SMS provider (Tracksales platform credits), each message deducts from your organization's SMS wallet at the platform cost per SMS segment. Top up credits under Messaging → Billing.

If you connect Africa's Talking or SMS Leopard under Settings → Integrations, those messages bill your gateway account directly—not through the Tracksales wallet.

4. Typical workflow

  1. Top up SMS credits if needed (Billing guide).
  2. Configure provider and quiet hours in Settings.
  3. Create or pick a template (optional).
  4. Compose and send from the Outbox.
  5. Set up automations for recurring triggers.
